Achieving Environmental Sustainability
At the beginning of 2008, UB launched a new set of specific targets to help the business achieve environmental sustainability. After three years of strong progress towards its original sustainablility goals, UB is extending the programme to increase the focus on the sustainability of the ingredients it sources. It will also continue to work towards its original goals.

The targets cover the following areas:
- Reducing carbon emissions and energy use
- Reducing waste sent to landfill
- Reducing water
- Reducing packaging waste
- Increasing our use of environmentally friendly transport
- Increasing sustainable sourcing
We are also founding members of the Prince's Countryside Fund, an initiative to support UK farmers. Their logo is shown above and also appears on most McVitie's Digestive packs to show our support.
